Vauxhall Corsa-e electric car owner review 2022

Joe Cott drives a Vauxhall Corsa-e 50kWh 2022.

This is Joe’s first electric car, he’s owned the Vauxhall Corsa-e from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 180 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Vauxhall Corsa-e?

I wanted an electric car not to save the world but just for something different and cheaper to run.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • It’s hilarious to drive in Sport mode despite being less than 140 bhp
  • it’s very comfortable, even for my 6ft 5in height
  • it looks good in my humble opinion.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

The view past the offside A-pillar is a little restricted but at least you know it’s solid and safe in the event of accidents.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Still the same range after 19 months but so it should be with the warranty of 70% efficiency after 8 years.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults so far with one recall for the air con software.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

As it’s top of the range it has all the bells & whistles included so as far as gadgets are concerned, I want for nothing!

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

There are no surprises to this car, it’s just a very good all-rounder.

What’s the biggest/funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

People who don’t drive EVs are always telling me that I won’t be able to find a charger on a journey and they will short out in torrential rain! I have always found rapid chargers and recently drove (very slowly) through a half mile of 4″ floodwater with no problem.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Tesla, just for fun!

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Indra – no idea of model but it came FOC including fitting. Works perfectly with no issues.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

ScottishPower – supplier is no better or worse than any other. Pay approx. 19p per kWh.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

InstaVolt every time! Contactless and always working.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Vauxhall Corsa-e

I lease the car for £206 per month over 4 years, there is currently no road tax. Servicing is cheap and it costs less to run than my previous car, an Audi A3 diesel auto.
