Renault Megane E-Tech 2022 electric car owner review

Renault Megane E-Tech 2022 electric car owner review

Anthony Beech drives a Renault Megane E-Tech Launch Edition 60kWh 2022.

This is Anthony’s first electric car, he’s owned the Megane E-Tech less than 1 year and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and he achieves 220 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Renault Megane E-Tech?

Excellent range, with good charging speeds (22kW AC/125kW DC) and great tech with Google built-in. The quality of the interior is good albeit with some hard plastics. The regeneration paddles have 4 levels of regeneration & the E-Tech is a great looking car. I also like the mix of screen controls and it has buttons for the climate control!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Google built-in
  • drives really nice
  • the cabin is well designed.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • No option for a sunroof
  • tailgate button on the back (you get dirty finger)
  • back seats are slightly cramped for adults.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Alarm has been going off so the dealership is asking me to monitor how often and record how many bleeps go off when opening the car.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • 22kw AC charging, 125 DC charging
  • regeneration paddles with 4 levels of regen
  • Google built-in for the entertainment system
  • good sound system.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Boot has a great storage area for the charging cable.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

I might be interested in the Renault 5 when it’s launched. It looks great and if the tech is similar to the Megane then it could be a winner!

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

myenergi zappi charger – can charge just off my solar panels. Some people have had compatibility problems with the Megane however, there is an update due.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

I’m on a normal tariff at the moment. I do so few miles a flexible tariff such as Octopus Go wouldn’t be advisable. OVO Energy have an electric car-only rate that I’m considering but the zappi is not compatible at present.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

I mainly use Pod Point as I have access to a free charger. I have used GRIDSERVE also with no issues apart from the cost!

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

LV= I have a 2 car plan, reasonable cost.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Renault Megane E-Tech

No road tax, free charging, either at home from solar or from local charger, service plan with Renault only £15 a month & a 5-year warranty.
