MG ZS EV 2022 electric car owner review

MG ZS EV 2022 electric car owner review

Sean R drives an MG ZS EV 72kWh 2022.

This is Sean’s first electric car, he’s owned the MG ZS EV less than a year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 500-1,000 miles and he achieves 210 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the MG ZS EV?

Most affordable with the largest battery size. Also happened to be a nice car!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • The SUV shape & style is great and makes it very practical
  • it’s very easy and smooth to drive with intuitive controls and clear displays
  • even at the lower end of price range for EVs, it still maintains a touch of elegance and luxury.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Don’t like that you can’t adjust the reach of the steering wheel, only the rake. Although I am now used to the driving position in this car.
  • the rear view mirror is also smaller compared to previous cars I’ve owned so the field of view is less.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults so far.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

MG Pilot is very advanced which is great, it provides a lot of assistance and safety features that a lot of cars reserve for the more expensive models.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

I love the dual-height floor in the boot, meaning I can store things that are less frequently needed under the floor while keeping the space above free for other things like groceries or suitcases.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

I will always stand by Osprey, InstaVolt and IONITY for their ease of use and convenient locations.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Insured with Admiral, nothing special about the policy, maybe a bit pricey for the EV compared to an ICE but I’m happy with it so far.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an MG ZS EV

We previously spent around £200 a month on diesel, now we spend around £80-100 a month on charging costs and this is solely on public charging network as we can’t charge at home currently. If we could charge at home it would be even more of a saving with off-peak rates. As it’s a fairly new car still we are also saving some money on servicing costs and MOT (until it’s 3 years old).
