Polestar 2 2021 electric car owner review

Polestar 2 2021 electric car owner review

Stadders drives a Polestar 2 Plus DM Pilot/Plus 78kWh 2021.

This is Stadder’s first electric car, he’s owned the Polestar 2 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 30,000-40,000 miles and he achieves 240 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Polestar 2?

I felt it was about time I stopped driving a diesel-engined BMW and that I should be a bit greener as I was driving a huge number of miles commuting regularly between rural Wiltshire and Basildon, Essex.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Just the most relaxing drive ever
  • the feeling of solidity & safety
  • the lack of range anxiety.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • It doesn’t link to Intelligent Octopus, yet
  • it sometimes needs an infotainment reboot.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

The infotainment system very occasionally needs a reboot. Nothing else.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • The Cruise Control is brilliant
  • the Google interface works a dream too & I can control almost everything by voice
  • the mapped route is also displayed in the driver’s instrument panel, as a map, not just on the big screen.
  • the whole driver’s control system
  • the seat controls
  • the amazing LED pixel lights and their ability to react so very fast, amazing!
  • One pedal driving too.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Polestar 4 – because the brand is amazing!

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

EO Mini Pro – simple to use. But…it does not work with Octopus Intelligent nor can I use it to use surplus solar energy. It’s also really small, which is why I wanted it.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Octopus Go – great, proactive company. Doesn’t offer Intelligent Octopus for the charger, purchased from them or the car. Good prices though and the Electroverse app is excellent.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

IONITY as we have a great deal with Polestar and Plugsurfing that gives us a discount. They have a fabulous network on the French peage roads too. Very few IONITY charges in the South West which is where I would like to be driving.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

LV – amazing service and price.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an electric car
