Top 5 Insurers – Summer 2022

Top 5 Insurers - Summer 2022

Welcome to Electric Road’s ‘Top 5 Insurers’ Summer 2022.

At Electric Road, our key objective is to be as useful as we possibly can be for those considering their first/next electric car and related products & services. Finding the right insurance policy is naturally very important to all electric car owners.

Owner Ratings

Based on the 5-bolt rating system from over 1,800 Owner Reviews received up to and including 30th June, Electric Road (ER) has extracted the top 5 highest-rated insurers. Within the review forms, all owners have to provide a bolt rating out of 5 on their current insurer. We’ve then worked out the average rating for each company.

We hope this summary of EV owners’ opinions will help you make the right decision when the time comes to consider your next insurance policy. The Top 5 Insurers will be updated each quarter ensuring you have the latest trends from the ER audience.

1. LV=

Top 5 Insurers - Summer 2022

LV= are once again our most highly-rated insurer for Summer 2022 with many of our owners liking their EV benefits.

About LV=

LV= EV insurance includes as standard:

  • Recovery to the nearest charge point if you run out of charge in the UK. We also have a fleet of vehicles we use in partnership with AFF, the national roadside electric vehicle charging assistance company, which can recharge your vehicle and get you on the road again. This won’t affect your NCD and there’s no excess to pay.
  • Cover for charging cables, wall boxes and adaptors for accidental damage, fire and theft
  • Battery cover for accidental damage, fire and theft – even if you’re leasing it separately from the car
  • Over the air monthly updates (OTA) are covered as standard when you insure your electric vehicle with us, but if you or the previous owner paid for additional performance upgrades affecting speed or acceleration, we’ll need to know. You’ll only need to tell us once and not every time you upgrade.
  • Plus, you’ll enjoy lifetime guarantee on repairs (when using LV’s recommended repairer service, for as long as you own the vehicle, labour only, excludes parts)
  • And if you choose our optional hire car cover: we’ll provide the use of an electric or hybrid hire car if your green machine is off the road.
