Why did you choose this car?
I had a Toyota Aygo before but I’m a volunteer driver and in 2020 was told passengers had to sit in the rear which wasn’t possible with such a small car as I would have to put the back seats flat for a wheelchair or walker. I looked at the Toyota Hybrid but I wasn’t sure how often I’d have to put petrol in so looked at going fully electric. Toyota don’t do an EV so I looked at other options.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car.

  • It’s absolutely brilliant, the best car I’ve ever owned!
  • It’s so cheap to run – around 1,000 miles for under £20
  • My passengers all love it as it’s so smooth and quiet
  • I love it because I spend so much time in my car waiting for passengers at their appointments and this time of year being able to preheat it (no scraping windows) and have heated seats and steering wheel is such a bonus!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car.

  • If you have to use a public charger then there aren’t many CHAdeMO chargers. That’s the charger companies’ fault!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
I rely on Android Auto and the USB port has had to be changed twice because AA keeps failing. When it does, I have to wiggle the cable connection into the USB port and that’s broken it twice.

What are the standout tech features of the car?
Not my speciality but Android Auto is fabulous! And of course the preheat feature, heated seat and steering wheel.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this car.
Many don’t realise (I didn’t) that you can ask, “Alexa, ask my LEAF to warm up”, FABULOUS!

I don’t know.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Smart Pro: it links to OVO’s Kaluza app and I’m with OVO’s Drive Anytime tariff so I only pay 5p/kWh when charging overnight.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
I’ve rarely charged at a public charger and only used Gridserve.

List your top 3 favourite public charging networks (in order of preference).
N/A, I’ve only used Gridserve and they’re annoying.

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
LV Insurance – they cover ‘out of charge’, not that I’ve ever used it and hope not to.
