Why did you choose this electric car?

The car was inexpensive and it doesn’t look like an EV.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • The IONIQ is very energy-efficient – in the summer the consumption falls below 10kWh/100km (62.5 miles)
  • Without recuperation the car has nearly no rolling resistance, it glides light as a feather
  • The IONIQ is not so ‘overkill’ as other EVs – no 20″ rims, no hundreds of horses etc but it has everything that you need
  • And…it is no SUV!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Connected to a wallbox it can only charge using one phase, this means only with 3,500kW
  • The ‘radiator grill’ is really ugly
  • That’s all… 🙂

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No, the car is extremely reliable.

What are the standout tech features of the car?

The energy consumption…over the year from -10°C up to 35°C the average consumption is at 13.5kWh/100km (62.5 miles)

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The rear seats have seat warmers too 😉

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

  • Polestar 2 – for the IONIQ I have a leasing contract I cannot extend 🙁
  • I don’t want an SUV – for the reason you have a very limited choice
  • A few weeks ago I tested the Polestar 2 – you take a seat, feel at home and fall instantly in love. 🙂

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Easee Home 22kW – it it very small and you can change the covers – six colours or so are available. You can leave your cable connected (and locked) or take the cable with you. And it is possible to allow charging for only people with the predefined RFID-tags.
