This is SJ’s fourth electric car, he’s owned the Polestar 0-1 years and drives between 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,00-1,000 miles and he achieves 265 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose this electric car?

My previous car was in a 3-year contract, so I decided to test drive a few others. The Polestar 2 brought a smile to my face almost immediately. It feels connected to the road and is a relaxing drive. In the end, I was torn between the Polestar 2 and Kia EV6. They are both great cars to drive but the Kia felt a bit too large in comparison. No regrets about my final choice. I’ve toured from Sussex to as far as Cornwall and it’s behaved perfectly.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car.

  • Style
  • Ease of driving
  • Safety and driving aids.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car.

  • Lack of internal storage for driver and front passenger
  • Some settings require two or three clicks on the tablet
  • The large central tunnel.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Early on the parking sensors got stuck ‘on’, i.e. continued beeping after the car was parked and locked. Solved by OTA software update. Also, the car alarm was a bit oversensitive (false alarms) but hasn’t happened recently.

What are the standout tech features of your Polestar 2?

  • Android Automotive is great
  • The ‘Safety and Driving Support’ features are excellent
  • Over the Air software updates work well and mean the car functionality keeps on improving.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car.

It’s Volvo’s sister brand so benefits from good support from Volvo dealers.

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

I’ll look at Kia and Hyundai as well as Polestar next time.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Rolec 7.2Kw- I’ve had no problems since it was installed 5 years ago but other people have. So I’d be cautious and shop around.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Well, the energy supply is a mess at the moment so I can’t recommend anything. Our supplier collapsed so we got switched to British Gas, who I wouldn’t recommend.
