Why did you choose this electric car?

I wanted an EV but also wanted a small car. Most EVs are too big for my needs. I bought it purely on the basis of various online reviews as no dealers local to me had one in stock.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car.

  • Fun to drive
  • High specification level
  • Excellent safety features.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car.

  • Range is poor in winter (120 miles)
  • Washer bottle tiny (1.5 litres) and no low level warning
  • You cannot switch the lights off! Seriously, there is no switch that shuts the lights off completely. If I am waiting to pick someone up in winter and want the heating and radio on, I also have to have the headlights on. Why, Fiat, why?

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

My infotainment secret went blank after 1,000 miles. A connector had come adrift and the problem was easily fixed. No other problems.

What are the standout tech features of your 500e?

Level 2 self-driving works well on A-roads with good line markings. Speed limit recognition and speed limiter are more useful than I thought they would be. Traffic jam assist is good. The infotainment system is well designed with a good sat nav and Apple CarPlay integration.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car.

No surprises, really.

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

It doesn’t exist yet. I love Audi but don’t want a large one. An Audi EV the size of the A1 would be perfect for me.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Hypervolt – it works fine and has given me no trouble.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Bulb EV tariff – cheap rate between 0200 and 0600 hrs which is plenty of time to charge the car to 100%. A good tariff if you can get it.

Who do you insure your electric car with? Would you recommend them to others and why?

LV – reasonable price and they will get you to an EV charge point if you drain the battery.
