John G drives a MINI Countryman 65.2kWh 2026.
This is John’s first electric car, he’s owned the MINI Countryman less than a year and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 0-500 miles and he achieves 260 miles on an 80% charge. John has the monochrome edition with standard spec.
Why did you choose the MINI Countryman?
Always wanted a MINI and as soon as my wife and I sat in one, then that was the car for us! The fact that it’s an EV is a bonus.
Positives
The ride is a lot smoother, quieter and cheaper to run than a petrol/diesel car, as well as being better for the environment.
Negatives
I can’t really think of any negatives at the moment, to be honest.
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
The battery is fine as it’s only a few months old.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
No issues, whatsoever.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
The whole infotainment is superb as well as the regen braking.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your MINI Countryman
The size & quality of the interior and the acceleration are outstanding.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
I would choose another MINI because of the build quality. Other than that, Tesla looks good and I have friends who own them.
Home charging unit
Ohme Home Pro – when it works it’s great but from time to time it fails to charge, which is a little annoying.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Intelligent Octopus Go – we were with Octopus Energy before we owned an EV. I would recommend them to anyone, their customer service is second to none.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a MINI Countryman
I was putting £30 of petrol in my previous car every 2 weeks. Now I charge my EV once every 3 weeks (overnight) and the cost is around £5.
