Genesis GV60 Owner Verdict: Real-World Ratings, Pros, Cons & Specifications

When Genesis, the luxury arm of the Hyundai Motor Group, launched the GV60 as its first dedicated electric vehicle on the bespoke E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), it set out to rival established European heavyweights like BMW, Audi, and Porsche while offering a distinctly plush alternative to its platform siblings, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6.

Following a comprehensive mid-life update for the 2025/2026 model year that introduced an upgraded 84kWh battery and a unified 27-inch OLED panoramic display, prospective buyers are asking one key question: what is the Genesis GV60 actually like to live with every day on UK roads?

At Electric Road, we cut through the glossy manufacturer brochures and PR spin by handing the microphone directly to the people who live with the car on their driveways. By combining statistical data from our latest UK EV Owners Poll with in-depth Owner Reviews and  road-trip feedback, we have created the ultimate, one-stop-shop Owner Verdict on the Genesis GV60.

Genesis GV60 Owners’ Star Rating

4.53 / 5 Stars

(based on 19 verified UK Genesis GV60 owner ratings)

Notably, nearly half of all polled owners (47.4%, or 9 out of 19) selected “Nothing” when asked what they disliked about their car, while 99% of respondents who answered the ‘What car next?’ question stated: “No plans yet, keeping my current EV for a while!”

What Really Delights Genesis GV60 Owners?

1. Whisper-Quiet Comfort, Build Quality & ‘Bentley-Like’ Exclusivity

With 94.7% of polled owners praising ‘Comfort & refinement’ and 89.5% highlighting ‘Build quality’, the GV60’s cabin ambience is its undisputed trump card. Unlike the more minimalist or utilitarian interiors of rival EVs, the GV60 cossets its occupants in Nappa leather, brushed aluminium, and acoustic glass.

For many drivers in our Poll, the GV60 isn’t just the best electric car they have driven—it is the best car they have ever owned:

  • “Without doubt my GV60 is by far the best car I’ve ever owned. The build quality is second to none and inside it’s just a lovely place to be. Practical, easy to drive, plenty of power when needed. An exceptional car.” — 2023 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “Best car I have ever owned and I’ve owned 18.” — GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “It’s the best-looking and most comfortable of the many Hyundai group BEVs. Exterior styling is very European and looks great. The midlife facelift has colour coded some exterior details. The car drives and rides extremely well and passenger comfort is second to none and notably better than more expensive BMW and Audi EVs I drove.” — 2023 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

Because Genesis remains a boutique luxury marque on UK roads, owners also relish its exclusivity. As one owner switching from a BMW X5 3.0d told us in our Poll:

  • “I would highly recommend it. Drives beautifully and it’s rare. People are asking me what it is and I have been asked the ‘Is it a Bentley?’ question.” — 2025 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

In our full Owner Reviews, Christopher Petchelli (who drives 20,000–30,000 miles a year in his 2022 GV60 Sport) explained why it beat its sibling rivals hands down:

  • “We chose this car due to my desire of not following the crowd. We loved the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Ultimate but when we discovered the Genesis GV60 was the same car but with more tech, better interior and a lot more rarer it was an absolutely no brainer for us. We previously looked at the KIA EV6 but were extremely disappointed with the headroom of the top spec model. Genesis GV60 wiped the floor with both cars, in our opinion.”

2. Tactile Physical Controls & Intuitive Tech

In an automotive era dominated by frustrating touchscreen sub-menus, 78.9% of GV60 owners praised its ‘Driver controls’ and 89.5% lauded its ‘Technology’. Owners repeatedly told us that Genesis struck the ideal balance between cutting-edge digital screens, a crystal-clear Head-Up Display (HUD), and physical switchgear:

  • “The deciding factor for me was physical controls, not having to rely solely on a touchscreen. Also the car came with a very comprehensive 5 year warranty, meaning I would never have to pay for any work, or services.” — GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “Build quality is exceptional. Tech is brilliant.” — 2023 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “The special feature of the Genesis GV60 is its ‘no compromise’ focus from internal combustion engines. If you make the switch and you have the budget then get a Genesis, it’s the best of all the E-GMP cars. Buttons for everything which can also be found through the menu as well.” — Christopher Petchelli, 2022 GV60 Sport Owner Review

3. Blistering 800V Ultra-Rapid Charging & Road-Trip Ease

Selected by 84.2% of poll respondents, the GV60’s ‘Charging speed’, enabled by its 800V electrical architecture and peak DC charging rate of up to 233–264kW, transforms long-distance UK road trips. Coupled with automatic battery pre-conditioning linked to the onboard navigation, motorway stops are remarkably brief.

  • “Fast charging due to the pre heating and 800 volt speed. I have never been at an ultra charger more than 15 minutes… The Tesla-style sat nav where it auto routes you to charge points and pre-heats the car is fantastic. I believe it’s better than a Tesla due to it being able to filter your favourite networks and speeds. It’s not just focused on its own brand. I have asked the sat nav to prioritise MFG, IONITY, GRIDSERVE and InstaVolt.” — Christopher Petchelli, 2022 GV60 Sport Owner Review

  • “Fast charge to 80%, 20 mins with fast charger, smart cruise control, collision avoidance, boost button, 0-60 in 4 seconds, dual motor all-wheel drive, fantastic infotainment display & head-up display… regenerative braking including i-Pedal (one pedal driving).” — Kevin B, 2022 GV60 Sport Plus Owner Review

When out on the UK public network, our reviewers consistently recommend IONITY (with Ian Bury noting in his 2023 GV60 Premium review that “Genesis supply a charge card which has great rates”), alongside InstaVolt, GRIDSERVE, and MFG EV Power for their speed and reliability.

4. Real-World Range & Home Charging Savings

Across our long-term Owner Reviews, real-world range figures hold up solidly against official WLTP claims, even on high-mileage vehicles:

  • GV60 Premium (RWD, 77.4kWh): Ian Bury (15,000–20,000 miles/year) achieves an average of 280 miles from a full charge.

  • GV60 Sport (AWD, 77.4kWh): Christopher Petchelli (20,000–30,000 miles/year) achieves 250 miles from a full charge.

  • GV60 Sport Plus (AWD, 77.4kWh): Kevin B (30,000–40,000 miles on the clock) achieves 225 miles on average from an 80% charge (equating to ~280 miles at 100%) and confirmed that battery degradation is zero, with both charging speed and range remaining the “same for both” as when new.

A Genesis GV60 home charging

For drivers charging at home on smart EV tariffs, daily running costs are a fraction of a petrol or diesel equivalent:

  • “Charging at home you can do 300 miles for £10 as opposed to £50-£200 for an ICE car. Servicing of EVs is cheaper than ICE cars and they are very reliable. I’ve owned EVs for 3 years now, 100% reliability!” — Kevin B, 2022 GV60 Sport Plus Owner Review

  • “I save £300 a month on fuel and don’t pay any car tax.” — Ian Bury, 2023 GV60 Premium Owner Review

Areas for Improvement: Real-World Quirks & Gripes

While owner satisfaction is overwhelmingly high, our Poll data and reviews highlight several real-world compromises you should weigh up before buying:

1. High List Price & Depreciation (“Buy Nearly New”)

In our EV Owners Poll, ‘Value for money’ was the most common criticism, flagged by 31.6% (6 out of 19) of respondents. With new OTR prices ranging from £54,115 to nearly £70,000+ once option packs are added, monthly lease and finance payments can be steep.

  • “I am not saving money at all. My EV costs me double what I would pay for an ICE car. I have the EV because I love it NOT because it saves me money. Running costs are cheap but the lease of the GV60 is almost £900 a month. EVs are far too expensive, I have it as an indulgence.” — Christopher Petchelli, 2022 GV60 Sport Owner Review

  • The Smart Buyer’s Workaround: As one savvy 2022 owner advised in our Poll: “Love it and a head turner. A pleasure to drive and would highly recommend it, but buy a few years old as you can pick up a good priced Genesis.”

2. Optional Equipment Stings on Early Cars

Early pre-facelift buyers were caught out by features locked behind expensive option packs:

  • “When I got it, it had no heated seats which given I paid £56,000 for it should not be the case.” — GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

(Note: Kevin B also flagged “no heated seats” on his standard-spec 2022 car; Genesis has since made 3-stage heated front seats and a heated steering wheel standard across all trims from the MY25 update onwards).

3. Turning Circle & Car Park Width

Despite its compact 4,545mm length, the GV60 rides on a long 2,900mm wheelbase and measures 1,890mm wide (2,150mm including mirrors). Both our poll respondents and reviewers called out its manoeuvrability in tight UK car parks:

  • “Reduce the turning circle! It’s bloody massive for a crossover SUV. The Enyaq is a big car and has a much smaller turning circle. This key point will make me choose another brand next time.” — 2025 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “The GV60 is a superb car. Beautifully built and bristling with driving aids and nice design touches. Only criticism is its width. The car just feels needlessly wide, which becomes a challenge in tight car parks etc.” — 2024 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

4. Mixed Dealer Network & Customer Service Experiences

While several owners praised Genesis’s 5-year Care Plan and concierge service (“The service from Genesis has been very good too” ), others found the limited physical UK retailer footprint frustrating when booking servicing or repairs:

  • “Car is great but Genesis UK customer service is appalling for a so-called premium brand.” — 2023 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “Servicing is an issue. Customer support are not very responsive.” — 2022 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

  • “I would like to see more dealers or let my local Hyundai dealers be able to service it.” — 2025 GV60 Owner (EV Owners Poll)

5. ICCU Concerns, Missing Front ISOFIX & Practicality Details

  • ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit): Although 63.2% of polled owners rated ‘Reliability’ as a positive and reviewers like Kevin B reported “No faults, been 100% reliable” over 30,000+ miles, one 2022 owner in our Poll cautioned: “Really like the car, but have had an ICCU failure which has undermined my trust in the Hyundai brand. Evidence suggests it could fail at any time.”

  • Family & Cabin Quirks: One owner in our Poll wished for the “same car but slightly bigger, higher ride height, more rear headroom [and] remote control heated and ventilated seats via app.”

  • Meanwhile, reviewer Christopher Petchelli highlighted the lack of front passenger ISOFIX mounts (“For a car which costs £65k I don’t understand why they couldn’t fit a pair of £40 Isofix brackets to the front passenger seat”) and admitted he isn’t a fan of the rotating Crystal Sphere gear selector, light-heartedly nicknaming it “the chav ball”.

  • Finally, Kevin B noted the lack of a rear wiper on his 2022 car—though later specifications include a rear wiper and digital mirror options.

Our Final Owner Verdict: Should You Buy the Genesis GV60?

Scoring a resounding 4.53 out of 5 stars in our UK EV Owners Poll—with 94.7% of owners praising its comfort and 89.5% applauding its build quality and technology—the Genesis GV60 is one of the most accomplished, luxurious, and characterful electric crossovers on British roads.

If you need a cavernous family load-lugger with a tight city turning circle and a dealership on every high street, a Škoda Enyaq or Kia EV6 may suit your practical needs better. Similarly, if you are buying brand-new on personal finance, the steep list price requires deep pockets.

However, if you want an EV that feels genuinely special—combining Bentley-inspired cabin craftsmanship, sensible physical buttons, whisper-quiet motorway refinement, and 18-minute 800V ultra-rapid charging—the GV60 is in a league of its own.

Bought either via a company car salary sacrifice scheme or as a two-to-three-year-old approved used bargain, the Genesis GV60 is an absolute triumph. As owner Christopher Petchelli summed it up in his review for us: “It is an absolutely fantastic car and has made me want to never not own an EV, especially a Genesis.”
