Why did you choose this car?
It looks nice.
Positives
It’s a nice enough car.
Negatives
Not nearly as good a range as the e-Niro. Relatively slow to rapid charge by today’s standards (75kW max).
Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
I didn’t have it from brand new, but I imagine so.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
No
What are the standout technological features of the car?
Ventilated seats!
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Niro EV
It has a small frunk which fits the Type 2 cable in.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Tesla Model Y (Juniper) – nice car, good range & quick and cheap charging from the Supercharger network.
Home charging unit
myenergi zappi 2 – it is great and I have had no issues. It was installed by Octopus Energy and they where great.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Intelligent Octopus Go is very good.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Over the last 2-3 years, I have no complaints as the charging network has significantly improved.
Insurance
Direct Line – was cheaper than my renewal, but probably an introductory offer. All insurers had ridiculous excesses when I last checked.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Kia Niro EV
Saving on fuel by charging at home, but I’ve spent much more on EVs than I would on ICE cars!
