MG ZS EV Trophy 2022 Owner Review

Stash drives an MG ZS EV Trophy 70kWh 2022.

This is Stash’s first electric car, he’s owned the MG ZS EV 2-3 years and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 240 miles from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the MG ZS EV?

The range, price and it’s very comfy!

Positives

  • Has a free app to control functions when locked
  • good range
  • easy and feels safe to drive.

Negatives

  • The KERS function (kinetic energy recovery system) should be on the steering wheel
  • need cable for Air Play.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults yet.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Sat nav
  • use of app to charge
  • lock to defrost
  • assisted driving (although I never use it)
  • auto dip lights
  • good large infotainment display.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

If a car is on fire, it’s always an EV!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

MG or another Chinese brand.

Home charging unit

myenergi zappi –  interfaces with solar, excellent app, keeps track of energy performance when charging and the grid.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Intelligent Octopus Go – 7p per kWh

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Only use when I’m going on journeys more than 240 miles and I’ve not had any problems. InstaVolt is good and fast, but I hate the fact they are so expensive. If I couldn’t charge at home, I would not have an EV.

Insurance

This year I chose Santander, approx £240.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an  MG ZS EV

Saving on petrol.
