Tesla Model 3 2023 Owner Review

Tesla Model 3 2023 Owner Review

Richard drives a Tesla Model 3 57kWh 2023, standard specification.

This is Richard’s third electric car, he’s owned his Tesla Model 3 2-3 years and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 20,000-30,000 miles and he achieves 170 miles range from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the Tesla Model 3?

It’s our third EV and our second Model 3. It’s just the best EV out there. We’ve rented numerous other electric vehicles, but nothing comes close to it.

Positives

We can go anywhere in it, with absolutely zero planning needed for the actual drives. Most summers we will do around 4,000 miles in our 6-week break, driving around Europe.

Negatives

Nothing…well, apart from it ruins every other EV for you!

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Pretty much, negligible at worst.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The integrated navigation, to route you through to the Supercharger network anywhere. The constant free OTA updates. Not needing a key, just having your phone with you. No pushing a start button to start or to turn off. Your phone allows you to get in, drive, get out, walk away. Every other EV has so many unnecessary faffs to mess with. Tesla make it work so well. And the updates keep things improving. Just the other day we left a phone in the car, and there was an audible alert through the external speaker to let us know.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Model 3

Preheat through the app, being able to find your car through the app, a literal arrow pointing to where your car is, and the distance. Great in large theme park car parks, like at Christmas at Disney in California. Granted it was a rental, but it integrated into our UK app.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

I don’t get involved with that kind of nonsense.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Only Tesla.

Home charging unit

Tesla – latest version.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Intelligent Octopus Go

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Tesla – everything else is crazy expensive, and is always more faff than is needed.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Tesla Model 3

Fuel, road tax (coming to an end in March for us), brake consumables, and expensive servicing. Tesla don’t force services like almost every other EV manufacturer.
