Genesis GV60 2022 electric car owner review

Kevin B drives a Genesis GV60 Sport Plus 77kWh 2022, standard spec.

This is Kevin’s second electric car, he’s owned the Genesis GV60 less than 1 year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 30,000-40,000 miles and he achieves a 225-mile range on average, from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose the Genesis GV60?

Hyundai EVs are brilliantly designed and engineered.

Positives

  • Looks
  • smoothness to drive
  • comfort
  • reliability
  • tech
  • extremely cheap to run
  • saving the world!

Negatives

  • No rear view wiper
  • no heated seats
  • poor turning circle.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Same for both.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults, been 100% reliable.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Fast charge to 80%, 20 mins with fast charger
  • smart cruise control
  • collision avoidance
  • boost button, 0-60 in 4 seconds
  • dual motor all-wheel drive
  • fantastic infotainment display & head-up display
  • car’s systems updated over-the-air
  • crystal clear display
  • 4 driving modes
  • regenerative braking including i-Pedal (one pedal driving).

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Genesis GV60

Genesis are a car brand owned by Hyundai.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

Range anxiety and mostly short journeys.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

All-new Nissan LEAF – made in Britain and a great car; Hyundai INSTER & Kia EV2 – South Korean EVs are superb from large to small.

Home charging unit

Hypervolt – does exactly as it says on the tin, brilliant unit!

Electricity supplier & tariff

Octopus

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Good – InstaVolt, bp pulse, GRIDSERVE & GeniePoint.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Genesis GV60

Charging at home you can do 300 miles for £10 as opposed to £50-£200 for an ICE car. Servicing of EVs is cheaper than ICE cars and they are very reliable. I’ve owned EVs for 3 years now, 100% reliability!
