‘Z’ drives a Renault Zoe 52kWh 2020 electric car.

This is Z’s first electric car which they’ve has owned 4-5 years. They drive 15,000-20,000 miles per year and the current mileage of the car is between 90,000-100,000. They achieve 210 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Renault Zoe?

Wanted a small hatchback.

Positives

• Ability to charge at 22kW AC
• pedal cycle fits in back with rear seats down
• good range for small EV.

Negatives 

• Not much side support on seats
• seats don’t recline as far as others
• satnav can be temperamental.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Still charges at the same rate but as I approach 100,000 miles I seem to have lost about 10 miles of range.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Seized brake calliper and worn ball joint on front suspension.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Nothing, just a reliable small EV.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Renault Zoe

The ability to charge at 22kW on AC which most expensive EVs can’t do.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

You can’t drive them in the rain.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Hyundai INSTER – as all the seats fold flat there’s a huge amount of storage space for a small car.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Pod Point – works well for me and are amongst the cheapest.

LV= never had to claim so not aware of any negatives.
