Audi e-tron GT 2023 electric car owner review

Clive Norris drives an Audi e-tron GT 2023.

This is Clive’s first electric car, he’s owned the Audi e-tron GT from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 210 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Audi e-tron GT?

Style, equipment levels, options available and as a business user, the tax saving.

Positives

  • Style
  • ride quality
  • interior.

Negatives

  • Electrical gremlins
  • rear passenger space
  • front bonnet storage.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Still charges fine but lost circa 100 miles below the original range.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

12v battery recall, otherwise no faults.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Great MMI, air suspension and matrix headlights.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

It’s got a gearbox! Normally runs in one gear but in dynamic mode you get the change as you accelerate into a second gear.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

No infrastructure & if you’re stuck in traffic the battery will drain quickly.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Audi Q6 or similar SUV.

Home charging unit

Hypervolt – timers are standard and it works off the solar. Tethered as standard, looks neat and various colour options. Great app.

Electricity supplier & tariff

I’m on a standard tariff, no low cost overnight. I need to charge when I want and not be held to overnight etc. as I often travel at night.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

  • InstaVolt seem decent and reliable with some super hubs now up and running
  • Fastned is excellent but in its early days in the U.K. so not many sites. Only need to use the app for the first charge, your car is then remembered by their network so a very simple plug in and and you’re charging.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an Audi e-tron GT

Income tax as a business user, approx £8k p/a. For running costs I’m at £11p/m. Worth noting I can charge at work FOC which I do once every two weeks.
