This is our first feature revealing findings from our MG Survey.
The MG Survey has been live since 3rd March 2024 and communicated to Electric Road’s subscribers.
The current (unique) submission total is 547 achieving a 71.1% completion rate. We will continue to promote this survey and will publish findings on an ongoing basis.
Our brand surveys are open to all drivers (of all ages of car & fuel types) be they a current owner, a previous owner, a prospective one or they simply have a view on that particular brand and/or the ongoing ‘fossil fuel v electric’ debate.
We want to understand how drivers are thinking & acting in relation to car brands and fuel types given the backdrop of 2035 when new petrol & diesel cars will no longer be sold in the UK alongside 2050 where the UK Government aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions to almost zero.
Key Findings
- Only 11.6% of current MG owners owned an MG previously (much lower than other manufacturers)
- Comparing current owners previous fuel type versus their current fuel type, petrol has decreased from 36% to 10% while electric has increased from 18.4% to 89.2%
- The Top 4 brands previous MG owners have moved onto are: Ford, Hyundai, Renault & Mercedes
- 36.4% of prospective MG owners are interested in an SUV
- 33.3% of prospective MG owners are interested in a hatchback
- Over 65% of prospective MG owners are primarily considering a fully electric model
- Over 30% of prospective MG owners currently own a Hyundai, Nissan or KIA model
- Value for money, practical & stylish are the top 3 responses to the question, ‘What does MG mean to you?’
