‘NIRO Excellent’ drives a KIA Niro EV 64kWh 2023.

This is NE’s first electric car, they’ve owned the KIA Niro EV less than a year and drive 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and they achieve 240 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the KIA Niro EV?

After a lot of research we found that it’s perfect for our family, size for rear seat passengers etc.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults

What are the standout technological features of the car?

All the info relating to the battery is way over my head. For a tech nerd this car would be heaven, I still love the car though.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Behind the headrest on the front seats there is an extra area to grab onto for getting in and out of the car. This is very appreciated by pensioners, a nice touch. :}

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

People think they go on fire a lot & are expensive to run – technically in Northern Ireland that is true when you charge at home as the tariffs are double that of the rest of the U.K.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

  • MG Cyberster
  • KIA have some nice models coming out next year
  • the wife likes Porsche (dream on!).

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

There is only one main negative, the price for charging at home in Northern Ireland is almost double that of the rest of the U.K. This is a joke, we should be getting subsidised for this by the Government.

The positive for charging at home is that you get up and that’s it, your car is good to go, no reason to go to petrol stations or charging stations. We love the convenience of it just not the rates!

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

There are no positives, the rates are a rip-off. Only in Northern Ireland, why is this when we are being considerate to the needs of the planet?

Do you use public charging networks?

No
