Zero SR 2019 electric bike owner review

Zero SR 2019 electric bike owner review

John purchased a Zero SR 2019 electric bike.

This was John’s first electric bike, he owned the Zero SR less than a year and he achieved 20 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Zero SR?

Trying to be conscientious regarding the environment.

Positives

It was rubbish, only had it a week and it developed a charging problem that was outside the scope of the warranty. Dealer bought back the vehicle. I would never buy another electric vehicle.

Negatives

  • Unreliable
  • deeply concerned about Lithium-ion fires within my garage
  • excessively expensive insurance.

Compared to when you first bought the bike, did your battery still charge at the same rate & did you still get the same range?

I never managed to charge it.

Did you experience any faults with the bike? If so, what have they been?

The bike was returned to the dealer within the 14-day approval period as being unrepairable within the scope of the warranty.

What were the standout technological features of the bike?

  • Overcomplicated
  • unnecessary features that did not affect the driveability
  • looked cheap
  • felt cheap
  • was extremely expensive.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric bike

Total rubbish, would rather burn recycled dinosaurs.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That they were actually a sensible means of travel.

What electric vehicle(s) are you interested in next and why?

Never, never, never, never, never again.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Most insurers didn’t want to know (through Compare the Market) and those that did were charging three times more than an equivalent ICE vehicle. Finally got cover through Performance Direct, at the highest price I have ever paid for cover.

Please itemise where you saved money (or not) owning the Zero SR

Didn’t, its cheaper overall to run diesel.
