Mercedes B250e 2021 plug-in hybrid owner review

Paul drives a Mercedes B250e 2021 plug-in hybrid.

This is Paul’s first plug-in hybrid car, he’s owned the Mercedes 250e from new and drives under 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 20,000-30,000 miles and he achieves 44 miles of range from pure electric.

Why did you choose the Mercedes B250e?

Bought a Hybrid due to lack of  public charging infrastructure.

Nil

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The sheer grunt you get from an electric motor!

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Nothing out of the ordinary, it’s a Mercedes.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Would like an EQC but it’s a ridiculous price.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Andersen 2 – is fine for overnight charging, my wife loves the look of it but the firmware makes it useless when charging off my solar panels. I’ve had Andersen out several times and they’ve had to replace it three times. The unit tends to fight the solar inverter to a point that I had to replace the inverter. No wonder they went bust.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

I never thought I would ever be singing the praises of my supplier! My Octopus Go is BRILLIANT!!!

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Only just gone with Tesco so can’t really say if they are good or bad.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Mercedes B250e

Local mileage is a lot cheaper on electric. We’ve had occasion to go three months before going for petrol.
