Hyundai IONIQ 5 2022 electric car owner review

Jim Thomas drives a Hyundai IONIQ 5 73kWh 2022.

This is Jim’s first electric car, he’s owned the Hyundai IONIQ 5 less than 1 year and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 210 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Hyundai IONIQ?

I actually wanted a plug-in hybrid but it was a long wait so I bought a second hand IONIQ 5.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Speed
  • plenty of room inside
  • smooth to drive.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

I’ve had problems with the safety electronics (sensors). I’m also concerned about the 12v battery. I’ve not experienced any problems but it’s always in the back of my mind.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

As above, I’ve had problems with the safety sensors and at times I felt it was too clever for its own good but I still love the car; also the radio is dreadful.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Rear camera is excellent and when they work, the safety sensors are too.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The space in the car is amazing, I’ve never had a car with so much leg room front and rear. The boot is large and the storage under the bonnet is more than adequate.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Depends on the price but I would have another IONIQ 5 but the top spec next time.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Pod Point – charging at home is still cheap compared with using charging points on the road.

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Too many not working.
