Peugeot e-EXPERT 2021 electric van owner review

Peugeot e-EXPERT 2021 electric van owner review

Ian drives a Peugeot e-EXPERT 75kWh 2021.

This is Ian’s first electric van, he’s owned the e-EXPERT 1-2 years and drives 30,000-40,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the van is between 30,000-40,000 miles and he achieves 140 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Peugeot e-EXPERT?

Capacity of loading space, ability to rapid charge, expected real world range and Peugeot build quality.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric van

  • Range
  • comfort
  • features.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric van

  • The app for the vehicle is useless
  • You cannot pre-heat (or cool) the vehicle if the battery is less than 50% charged, which mine rarely is
  • I have no other complaints.

Have you experienced any faults with the van? If so, what have they been?

Connection to the app on my mobile phone is sporadic and whilst getting better, could still be much better. Our Mercedes has a much better system for connecting.

What are the standout technological features of the van?

For a van, it has a good infotainment system & good driver aids (lane departure, auto braking, parking camera etc.)

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric van

It has an awesome warranty, our local dealers are spot on and the vehicle is great for everyday work.

What electric van(s) and/or car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Either the longer version of this van or the Boxer. Potentially also interested in the new 408 EV.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

myenergi zappi – we have 2, one of the first gen and one of the 2nd gen. Both completely integrated with my smart home system. Have no negatives at all to mention. Do exactly as they are supposed to. I also exclusively install these for my domestic customers (electrical company).

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Octopus Go – I have no issues with them, 4 hours of charging at a much cheaper tariff.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Pod Point is good and generally reliable, albeit sometimes you can lock yourself out of a charger. IONITY is a very good and reliable system which is a little expensive. ChargePlace Scotland is all round very good. GRIDSERVE, in my experience, is absolutely awful. They regularly don’t connect or will fail and disconnect once you have walked away. Started avoiding them altogether currently.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

The van is insured by Peugeot insurance. All of the cost comparison sites were more expensive by 4 fold.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Peugeot e-EXPERT

Most of my savings were made when I made the initial purchase. The free charging incentives worked well for my return on investment. Probably £30-40 savings per week v’s what I was spending on diesel, given the cost of charging overnight.
