Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Ford Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Holind drives a Mustang Mach-E Long Range RWD 88kWh 2021.

This is Holind’s first electric car, he’s owned the Mustang Mach-E from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 280 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?

I was after the Tesla Y but it wasn’t available at the time and after a test drive this fitted the requirements.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • It’s just beautiful to drive
  • it’s spacious with more than enough room to fit our 5 man blow up tent plus luggage and dog!

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • It’s a Ford😁
  • the position of the charging port. It either needs it to be front centre or another one at the back. In fact all EVs should have two charging ports.
  • the app is poor and the data provided by the vehicle is way out.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Had a high voltage power fault at 3,000 miles and a failed shock absorber (typical Ford) on 7,000 miles.

What are the standout technological features of your Mustang Mach-E?

The screen is easy to read and decent quality. The entertainment system is really good, especially the sound quality.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

As with the Tesla the frunk is huge and very useful. I like the digital entrance key on the door. The active cruise control makes motorway driving stress free too.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Tesla Y or possibly Rivian if it’s available in the UK.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

EO Mini Pro 2

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Octopus Intelligence is what I’m currently on. I’ve been with Octopus for years now and find them easy to deal with. All tariffs are currently very much the same and so service and green is important to me.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

chargepoint – if I can find them, they are my personal choice. All of them are over priced though. Why it costs more to charge rapid I have no idea as a kWh is a kWh no matter speed what you draw it.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Privilege is our insurer and they were reasonable in cost. We were with LV for our old car but for some reason they don’t insure the Mustang Mach-E???!

Please itemise (in detail) where you’re saving money owning & running a Mustang Mach-E

As it cost me about 10% the cost of running my previous car (SEAT Ateca diesel) over the last 12 months it’s been a good exchange. 80% of my driving is local. If 80% of my driving was long distance it would be a closer call.
