Tell us about your home charging routine

We plug in whenever we get home. During the sunny months we let the car charge from our PV, only using the grid occasionally. In the dark months, we keep the car topped up to 80% using the cheap overnight tariff. We very rarely need to charge on public chargers.

If you were buying a new charging unit now, what would you buy and why?

We would buy another zappi. It’s simply the best option for homes with solar panels.

Tell us about your electricity provider and tariff. Would you recommend them?

We are on Octopus Go, which provides 4 hours of cheap rate charging each night. During the summer we spend about £20 per month running the car. This rises to about £60 in winter.

Are you part of a charger-sharing scheme for those who don’t have their own charger?

Yes, we have a charger accessible from our drive and have registered it on all the major charge share platforms. We are in a rural location, so have only had a couple of people take advantage of it.
