Heather Taylor drives a FIAT 500e Icon 48kWh 2022 electric car.
This is Heather’s first electric car, she’s owned the 500e from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 1,000-5,000 miles and she achieves 190 miles range from a full charge.
Why did you choose the FIAT 500e?
I’ve had several Fiat 500s so I thought I would test drive an electric one. That led to an immediate order!

At this moment it will be another Fiat 500e.
Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements
Pod Point Solo 3 – so far it’s great! I set it to charge on the app and use Economy 7.
Please outline both positive & negative elements of your electricity supplier & tariff?
SSE Economy 7 – it is working well. The only downside is the rising prices but that is the same for all suppliers.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
ESB seem to be straightforward to use. The only problem is that they are very busy and there aren’t enough of them in Northern Ireland.
Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements
I use Zurich for my EV. I also insured with them when I had an ICE.
Please itemise where you’re saving money owning & running a FIAT 500e
- Insurance is a similar price
- I do not have to pay road tax
- My servicing costs are covered in the initial price for 3 years
- I don’t know how much I am saving compared to petrol.
