Past, Present & Future: Kia Niro PHEV to a Volvo XC40 78kWh

Lynton Green has moved from a Kia Niro PHEV to a Volvo XC40 P8 78kWh.

Via our survey, ‘Past, Present & Future’, we want to understand peoples’ respective car ownership stories. With the current climate crisis, there’s never been a greater need for emission-free driving yet at the same time, people are facing rising (and record) energy & general living costs.

This could ultimately change what car & fuel type a lot of people choose next. Also, we are very mindful that not everyone is on the road to electric so we wanted to highlight some of the more diverse & interesting feedback we’ve received.

Tell us about your Kia Niro PHEV

Good fuel economy, did manage to do most journeys on electric only. Ground clearance was a little low for my road and the boot was a little too small to carry all my football coaching kit.

Tell us about your Volvo XC40 P8

I absolutely love my XC40. Performance is brilliant, the range is good I’ve been getting over 200 miles even in winter. Only minor grumble is the user interface which is a little temperamental but is much better by version 2.1.

If you had to choose your next car today, what would it realistically be and why?

Probably another XC40, although I’m not happy that Volvo have removed the leather interior as an option. I need 4WD and I need around 6″ ground clearance too, which narrows my current choices. Would possibly consider an Audi e-tron 55 although it is considerably more expensive and less efficient to run.
