This is ElectricKD’s first electric car, he’s owned the MINI Electric 1-2 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 100 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose this electric car?

Always wanted a MINI, decided to go electric and it was the only choice as it’s one of the cheapest and best looking electric cars. Bought during Covid without a test drive or seeing it first.

 

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car.

  • Running costs are very low compared to petrol or diesel
  • Barely any depreciation so far
  • Goes like a rocket!

 

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car.

  • Only 4 seats.

 

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No

 

What are the standout tech features of the car?

Brilliant iOS app for managing charging and preconditioning. Getting into a defrosted and warm car on a December morning is fantastic. Timed charging takes advantage of cheap electricity tariff window.

It’s one of the cheapest on the market.

 

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

MINI Clubman 2023, I love the Mini but would prefer 5 seats.

 

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

EO – it has a 10 metre cable so that the car can be parked anywhere on the drive and easily charge.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Octopus Go Faster – I’ve done about 7,000 miles in a year for around £130.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Osprey and InstaVolt. ChargePlace Scotland should be great but the chargers are poorly maintained creating an unreliable network.

Churchill – cheap as chips!
