Why did you choose this car?
The BMW i3 with Range Extender is simply the best EV on the road. It combines superb and innovative design with incredible engineering (e.g. battery management). It is efficient, light at c1.300kg and in summer it can achieve an incredible 5 miles per kilowatt-hour. It has a generator onboard so there is zero range anxiety on long journeys. When time is tight, I use the extender which delivers the equivalent of 55MPG! It’s practical – I have used it as a camper as seats fold flat! I intend to keep this car for 10+ years and as battery management is so good I don’t expect to see significant degradation!
Positives
- Funky styling
- Efficiency
- its unique range extender.
Negatives
- Suicide back doors
- Lack of Apple CarPlay
- Slightly erratic climate control.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
No, nothing.
What are the standout tech features of the car?
It’s about the package, it’s so well designed, well ahead of its time. It lacks some of the bells and whistles of more modern EVs but I don’t feel I’m really lacking anything.
