Why did you choose this car?
Looks fab. Excellent tech. Design maximises the EV battery flat floor with electric front & rear seats & moving centre console to increase flexibility. ‘Froot’ to keep charging cable and V2L connector in. V2L = vehicle to load – can run 3.6kW of power through a 3 pin plug socket.
Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car?
- Looks – the external design is like some concept car
- The lounge-like interior really adds to the experience
- 800v based battery system allows fast charging at appropriate charge stations – much faster than any equivalent priced EVs.
Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car?
- No rear wiper is a slight bind but the rear camera sorts out the situation
- Interior really good quality, except interior door handles a bit plasticky
- Nothing else.
Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
Solar panels on the roof to trickle charge the batteries.
What car are you interested in next and why?
Too soon to say. I have a Honda e as well so will keep a few years. It would be good for manufacturers to bring out an affordable EV sports car.
What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
I have a myenergi zappi Mk1 – excellent, allows me to use spare electricity to charge the EV or heat hot water via Solic 200 diverter.
What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Octopus Go tariff – very good company. Their service and support are fantastic. With all the market volatility at the moment, Octopus are stable.
What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Not used too many networks. I get 2 years of IONITY access with Project 45. Lowers cost. Very quick charging with the IONIQ 5. But there are only 15 or so IONITY locations in the UK.
Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
I am a member of the Institute of Advanced Motoring having taken an additional driving exam. They have their own insurance company, IAM Surety through Cornmarket. This gives very good rates (especially for an oldie like me). I’d definitely recommend taking the IAM driving exam, it teaches you to be a safer driver.
