Why did you choose this car?
We needed a small city car to replace my wife’s ageing Polo. We chose the Honda e for its style, size, tech, performance and ‘cool factor’.
Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car?
- Looks
- Comfort
- Performance
- Brand reputation.
Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car?
- Speed limit (road-sign recognition) is often wrong, when sat nav shows the correct limit
- Auto headlights are too sensitive and can’t be switched off
- Why can’t the car remember personal preferences (sport mode, regen level, etc)?
Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
Handling and ride. It really is like driving a big go-cart.
What car are you interested in next and why?
Kia EV6 – for long trips/holidays and for days when the ‘e’ isn’t spacious enough, trips to B&Q etc.
What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
myenergi zappi 22kW 3-phase. It’s really good and integrates well with our solar PVs, Powerwall 2 and Eddi etc. No need for an additional earth rod either, which saved a lot of hassle and cash. Top-notch support from myenergi. Should be the norm but often isn’t these days.
What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Guernsey Electricity Economy 12. Decent rates and excellent feed-in tariff.
What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?
N/A. We live in Guernsey where there are no big-name public networks yet. There are places to charge but we can charge at home easily enough.
Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
NFU Mutual – been using them for a good 10 years. They are easy to deal with if you ever need to claim. Prices are competitive too.
