2024 Honda e:Ny1 Advance 61.9kWh Owner Review

In this real-world Honda e:Ny1 owner review, Stephen shares his long-term experience after two to three years of living with Honda’s electric SUV as his first EV. Covering under 5,000 miles annually—with total mileage between 5,000 and 10,000 miles—he achieves an average real-world range of 150 miles from an 80% charge, providing practical insight for prospective buyers and low-mileage drivers.

Why did you choose the Honda e:Ny1?

I bought the Honda because it usually has a good build quality, it’s just a shame they were not truthful about the range. They tell you you have a 68kWh battery which should be good for 250 miles, which would be ample for what I required, but you actually only get 60kWh of usable battery, which equates to around 150 miles.

Positives

  • Reliability
  • running costs.

Negatives

  • Range
  • poor software
  • we have had the charging socket stick in the car twice and had to call the breakdown service to help.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Charging rates haven’t changed, it’s still fine.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Twice the charging plug couldn’t be removed when the car had got to 90% charge. Apparently, it was a known issue, and a software update was done, but unfortunately it hasn’t fixed the problem.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

I like the tech on the car, very good safety features and the cruise control is very good.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Honda e:Ny1

They’re extremely responsive and acceleration is rapid!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

A car with better range. Some of the new models seem to have improved range, especially if they have heat pumps as heating drains the batteries quite quickly.

Home charging unit

Hypervolt 2 – it’s very good and I have never had a problem with it. I can log on with my phone and I know exactly what is happening, and the solar feature is good.

Insurance

Churchill.
