Nissan MICRA 2026 Test Drive Review

Anthony Hibbs took a test drive of the Nissan MICRA Evolve.

Rate the electric car on its exterior

What did you like/dislike like about the exterior?

Nice styling, quite distinct from its often-compared Renault 5 sibling. The front lighting gives a friendly face. Paint quality is good and panel gaps and fit are excellent. The rear door handle integration with the window gives the car a sleek look. I think all models have 18” wheels which give the car a solid stance. I like this car!

What did you like/dislike like about the interior?

This supposedly small car is really quite spacious in the front. Headroom is good and seats are very adjustable for any driver. If however, the driver is over 6″ tall, the rear is very tight. Seats are comfortable, screen and switch layout is good. My only gripe is the selector stalk and ‘handbrake’ switch configuration. There is plenty of space for a proper D/N/R/P selector. Why do manufacturers persist with the handbrake switch?

What did you like/dislike about the tech features?

This test drive was approx. 30 minutes in town and I settled into the car immediately. What a joy to find holding the + regen paddle engaged one pedal driving. Excellent in traffic. Screens displayed just the right amount of information. There is obviously much more tech but time did not allow for further tinkering.

What did you like/dislike like about how it drove?

A great drive. Smooth power delivery, sharp steering and remarkably good suspension on my area’s disintegrating roads. Good all-round vision and comfortable seats. And so quiet, almost no road or wind noise at the speeds I drove at (max 55mph).
