Audi e-tron 55 quattro 2022 electric car owner review

BobRedha drives an Audi e-tron 55 quattro 95kWh 2022.

This is Bob’s third electric car, he’s owned the Audi e-tron from new and drives 15,000-20,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 40,000-50,000 miles and he achieves 225 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Audi e-tron 55 quattro?

We bought one of the very first ones of this model back in May 2019. This is the updated version.

Positives

  • Very comfortable
  • very spacious
  • excellent long distance drive.

Negatives

Nothing that I really don’t like. One or two minor niggles, app on mobile is maybe not the best. A couple of auto functions that I turn off every time I get in but that is common across most new cars.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes and yes

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Charge port lock pin actuator stopped working on CCS port. But since it has two Type 2 charge ports home charging wasn’t affected.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Great sat nav
  • I like the fact that it does not have ‘one pedal’ driving for long journeys.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Love the charge port door, press open and it flips down, disconnect cable and it auto closes, including DC pins cover. Magic!

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That they are a milk float! If this is a milk float, then I want a job as a milkman!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Audi Q6 e-tron – slightly smaller than the Q8 with a much greater range.

Home charging unit

Rolec – it does the job.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Octopus fixed – can’t get an EV tariff because the smart meter can’t get a signal. Stupid!!

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

IONITY & Fastned – both offer plug and charge. I pay a subscription for IONITY through Audi Charging and get reduced prices on a number of providers. Fastned is a bit too pricey in the UK right now but very handy when we go to Europe.

Insurer

NFU Mutual – what else needs said.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an Audi e-tron 55 quattro

Energy costs, road tax & servicing. Don’t keep close records of expenses but think it will be of the order of approx. £100 saved per month.
