Davidk drives a Mustang Mach-E GT 98kWh 2022 electric car.
This is Davidk’s third electric car, he’s owned the Mustang Mach-E GT from new and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 500-1,000 miles and he achieves 280 miles range from a full charge.
Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?
My prerequisite was style, performance and range. The Jaguar I-PACE was a serious contender until I proceeded to order it and was informed that a number of essential features for me were discontinued. The Mach-E range was pretty much unknown to me at this point and I was pleasantly surprised how it measured up to the fully loaded I-PACE that I was considering. I needed a family-sized SUV that offered the fun of my cherished Morgan it was to replace. I initially bought an AWD ER Mach-E whilst waiting for the GT to arrive as I was now smitten.
Positives
- Style
- performance
- range.
Negatives
None other than a few minor technical glitches.
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None other than a few minor glitches that seem to rectify themselves.
What are the standout technological features of your Mustang Mach-E?
The ability to change the driving modes between Whisper, Active and Untamed changes the characteristics of the car to the extent that you appear to have 3 cars in 1. Whisper Mode is great for normal suburban driving whilst the other two modes progressively change the cars characteristics for more adventurous out of town driving.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car
The Park Assist feature, whilst not essential and having managed without for 50 years of motoring, is a great novel feature and particularly fascinates the grandchildren 🤓
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Another Mach-E GT if the future technology changes to the extent of providing greater range and charging versatility.
Home charging unit
I have a Pod Point home charger which is set daily for Octopus Go cheap tariff times so I just plug in when I need a top up on either of my EVs. The Pod Point has been faultless since it’s installation some 12 months ago.
Electricity supplier & tariff
Octopus Go is an excellent tariff and suits my requirements. Having to charge on consecutive nights is sometimes an inconvenience although not major as I can achieve 28kWh every night at 7.5p per kWh, so no complaints at all.
Do you use public charging networks?
No
Insurer
Direct Line – their policy was the cheapest and best in terms of wording and benefits that was on the market at the time of insuring. I had a previous allegiance with LV as I have had most of my policies with them but unfortunately they weren’t able to quote for a GT.
