Tesla Model S 2017 electric car owner review

Anon drives a Tesla Model S 90D 2017.

This is Anon’s second electric car, they’ve owned the Model S 2-3 years and drive 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 70,000-80,000 miles and they achieve 255 miles on a full charge.

Why did you choose the Tesla Model S?

Most advanced manufacturer, free supercharging & excellent charging network.

Positives

  • Great to drive
  • convenient to charge
  • convenient to travel in.

Negatives

  • Nothing.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes and yes.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Headlight adjustment required.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Excellent navigation and trip planning built-in
  • large map display
  • ample power when required
  • heated seats & steering wheel.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

  • Ample space for passengers and luggage
  • excellent comfort on long journeys
  • so responsive to drive and control including regenerative braking, which saves both brake wear and tyre wear.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

  • Small range in winter
  • too many others to mention!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Happy with what I have.

Home charging unit

Basic Rolec charger – no negatives as the car does all of the programming of charging schedules.

Electricity supplier & tariff

Intelligent Octopus – a slightly longer off-peak would be nice but not a deal-breaker.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Tesla
