This is Tim’s first electric car, he’s owned the MG4 EV 1-2 years and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 220 miles from a full charge.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?
Yes
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
- Phone would not connect (fixed by dealer)
- radio stopped working (as above)
- lane keep assist borderline dangerous – improved but not fixed.
What are the standout technological features of the car?
- Great handling

- pleasing external design.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car
V2L capability is awesome, I use it to power my whole workshop – heat, lights, electric tools all using cheap rate electricity stored from overnight charging. Also use it for power tools when working off-grid.
What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?
They cause multi-storey car parks to collapse!
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
Jaguar I-PACE – more upmarket and built in UK.

Yes
Do you have a home charging unit installed?

E.ON Next EV tariff – 7-hours per night cheap rate, useful when granny charging.
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Only used them about 4 times since I bought the car and I’ve experienced no problems.
Insurer
LV= gave me a good original price but the renewal was up by 60%. So I used a comparison site and ended up with Churchill at the same price as the original LV price.

My last diesel Mercedes cost me 18p/mile in fuel – the MG4 EV costs me 3p/mile in electricity.
