Peugeot e-2008 2022 electric car owner review

Simon M-B drives a Peugeot e-2008 GT Premium 50kWh 2022.

This is Simon’s first electric car, he’s owned the Peugeot e-2008 less than 1 year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 180 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Peugeot e-2008?

A very pragmatic choice driven by availability at the time. Considered all the Stellantis variants and settled on the e-2008 due to looks, delivery time, internal space, price and local dealer.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Ride comfort
  • space – just enough
  • price of reasonable charge speed at 100kW max.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • App is shocking
  • mileage predictor on dash is almost best ignored (very inconsistent rough estimate)
  • some exterior elements a little flimsy.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

One very annoying electrical fault created by heavy breaking that knocks the adaptive cruise control out until the system is rebooted. No solution has been provided. Computers record of faults hasn’t even got the 30+ times it has happened recorded. So a fault warning/ fault recorder that doesn’t record faults!?!

What are the standout technological features of the car?

3D dash is great – I love it! Brilliant to have a few physical buttons in addition to the complete functionality of going through the infotainment screen. If the App consistently did what it was supposed to do I’d be very happy with the simple layout and ability to do the key things that most people would want to do. Reversing camera (faux 360 function) is great in combination with the sensors.

TomTom sat nav works well with very helpful countdown to traffic congestion and the most simple of large colour indications of your speed in an average speed check area. In combination with the adaptive cruise control means you can have a very pleasant relaxing motorway journey. The lane assist can feel a bit fierce if you forget to use the indicators whilst intentionally changing lanes.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Helpful charge card clip in the sun visor if you remember that’s where you put it!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

I wish car clubs were more widely available so you could select the best car for the journey.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

No

Do you use public charging networks?

Yes

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

My top two favourite public charging networks are InstaVolt and MER. InstaVolt because they are a great speed, reliable, normally in good locations for food or a break consistently & consistently brilliant. MER as we have lots of different options provided locally by the council from 22kW to 50kW enabling you to select the output and cost that works for your length of stay.

Please outline both positive & negative elements of your insurer?

I went with Admiral for my first year of EV ownership as they offered a great MultiCover policy for a good price. I have heard some worrying stories around premium increases on some social media forums and we’ll have to see the renewal quote in a few months.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Peugeot e-2008

As a user of the public charging network I’m not convinced I am saving money right now but that might change as the cost per unit of electricity comes down.
