KD drives a KIA Soul EV First Edition 68kWh 2021.
This is KD’s first electric car, they’ve owned the KIA Soul EV 1-2 years and drive 20,000-30,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 30,000-40,000 miles and they achieve 300 miles from a full charge.
Why did you choose the KIA Soul EV?
I’ve always had ICE cars and wanted to try an electric car.

What are the standout technological features of the car?
Head up display ideal for driving without taking eyes off road, heat pump included on this car which saves money on heating & recuperation of electrical energy when braking. Manual buttons/dials for most things like radio, air con/heating etc., instead of a big screen that requires fiddling around trying to get into the car’s settings.

MG4 EV & KIA Niro EV
Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements
bp pulse 7kWh wall box – we only charge at home on Octopus Go at 5p/kWh during their cheap overnight rate. We have never charged on other chargers as we don’t need to. Their 4 hour charge overnight keeps us topped up. We have the charger timer set in the car so we just plug it in and leave the car to do it’s thing. It’s cost us approximately 1 pence per mile in ‘fuel costs’ since new and we have done almost 35,000 miles in 18 months.
Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements
Extremely positive and happy with Octopus Energy Go tariff – 4 hour overnight @5p/kWh and 13.75p/kWh day rate. Standing charges 25p per day.
Do you use public charging networks?
No
