Tesla Model X 2017 electric car owner review

Tesla Model X 2017 electric car owner review

Dave Goodman drives a Tesla Model X 60D 75kWh 2017.

This is Dave’s first electric car, he’s owned the Model X 1-2 years and drives 30,000-40,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 60,000-70,000 miles and he achieves 150 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Tesla Model X?

Stunning presence, the most eye-catching car on the road, particularly when parked and the rear Falcon Wing Doors open.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • How it drives
  • how it looks
  • how economical it is to own.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Some repairs can be expensive, out of warranty
  • mine has a relatively low range
  • it’s very large for some parking spaces.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Electric (PTC) heater failed (common on Tesla Model X and S) – resolved. Squeak from front of car, booked-in next week for resolution.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Everything, it’s LITERALLY a computer on wheels, but this does NOT distract from the most excellent drive quality. The tech is BY FAR better than from any other manufacturer and is updated regularly, over the air, with no need to visit the dealer.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Tesla, in line with a fair few other manufacturers, has masses of storage space, with a huge boot, and a front boot (Frunk) – which has loads of space too. My car also dances, which is a sight to behold.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Tesla Model X (again), but the Tri-motor Plaid, which is super-fast.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

Yes

Do you have a home charging unit installed?

No

Electricity supplier – outline both positive & negative elements

Electricity is expensive, even at the cheap rate with Scottish Power, but I get free unlimited Supercharging with my current Tesla so tend to use their power for free…

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Tesla

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Direct Line are Tesla Specialists and I got an excellent deal and it’s gone DOWN this year, which is the first time ever for me.
