Jaguar I-PACE 2020 electric car owner review

Jaguar I-PACE 2020 electric car owner review

Ollie1956 drives a Jaguar I-PACE SE 90kWh 2020 electric car.

This is Ollie’s first electric car, he’s owned the Jaguar I-PACE from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 240 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Jaguar I-PACE?

Quality and driving pleasure. As a previous owner of several conventional Jaguars, it provides all of the luxury and comfort but with electrifying performance.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Acceleration and torque are astonishing
  • Outstanding handling for such a heavy car
  • Still comfortable and practical.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Jaguar dealers have forgotten they are supposed to be supporting a premium marque
  • Sat nav chooses some surprising routes
  • Nervous about reliability after 3 months off the road due to heater failure.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

HVAC unit failed Dec 2021. No courtesy cars available, eventually given a ‘clonky’ Defender. Car not returned until March 2022. Really poor service all round from both the dealers and factory.

What are the standout technological features of your Jaguar I-PACE?

Nothing that stands out by current measures, although the ACC is particularly smooth and simple to use.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

Love the ability to pre-set the temperature from the App. It’s been fantastic during the 2022 heatwave.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Kia EV6 – similar in size and performance but hopefully better service and reliability.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

Yes

Do you have a home charging unit installed?

No

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

EDF have an electric car tariff which is brilliant.

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Admiral have been insuring my cars for years and have always provided exemplary service. Premiums are competitive, you can actually speak to them on the phone if you need to and small gestures such as a no quibble £50 rebate of premium during lockdown demonstrated genuine customer care.

Please itemise (in detail) where you’re saving money owning & running a Jaguar I-PACE

Able to put the car through my own company with only 2% BIK and 100% tax deduction for the business. Zero road tax, zero congestion charge, 1st service after two years just £246! Insurance is similar to previous ICE cars. Probably saves around £150 per month on fuel vs electric cost.
