Why did you purchase this particular unit?
Having checked out all the ones on the market at the time, this one seemed to provide the best features and support. I particularly like the way it integrates with my PV giving me genuinely zero-carbon charging.

List 3 or more points that you like about the charging unit.

  • Well-designed configuration features – they seem to have thought of everything
  • Reliable timers
  • API available to the end-user.

List 3 or more points that you don’t like about the charging unit.

  • By default, the LED on the front is stupidly bright but you can turn it down
  • Can’t think of anything else.

Outline any faults you have experienced with the unit.
None.

Provide your overall rating for the charging unit.

Tell us about your home charging routine.
Daily mileage is quite low, with the occasional longer trip. When the car needs some charge I plug it in in the evening and let it charge from 00:30 to 04:30 using Octopus’s cheap-rate 5p/kWh tariff. In the summer, I plug it in during the day on sunny days and divert my PV production into the car. I generally need to charge only every 3-4 days.

If you were buying a new charging unit now, what would you buy and why?
Probably the same again, unless there’s something else with killer new features.

Tell us about your electricity provider and tariff. Would you recommend them?
Octopus Go – 5p/kWh for four hours each night (although for new customers it’s now 7.5p/kWh and ours will go up to that soon). I’d probably recommend them, although, behind the very chummy facade, they’re just as inflexible and clueless as all the others.

Are you part of a charger-sharing scheme for those who don’t have their own charger?
No.
