Why did you choose this car?
I wanted an EV that was enjoyable to drive. Something fairly spritely, like a junior hot-hatch. That was most important. Range and practicality are just good enough.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car.

  • Performance is good but also realistic for public roads. It’s a fun car to drive both in town and out on a twisty country or moor road.
  • The interior quality, including infotainment, is good for a small car
  • The ability to precondition the car on cold mornings is priceless.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car.

  • The range/efficiency could be better
  • Practicality is a bit limited with a small boot, 3 doors and cramped rear seat space
  • Doesn’t stand out as something special, it looks like a petrol one (although this could be seen as a plus).

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
The car has been faultless so far, although there has been a recall issued.

What are the standout tech features of the car?
Mine is a middle-spec L2 but it still includes a good sat nav/stereo setup. I like the heated seats and the ability to precondition the cabin.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this car.
At a glance it can appear to be expensive compared to a petrol equivalent but because they’re so well specified as standard, it’s really not a lot more.

Rate your EV out of 5.

What car are you interested in next and why?
VW ID. Buzz as a family car but to replace the MINI it would have to be something fun but a touch bigger. Right now, I’d go for a Renault Megane E-Tech.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
A myenergi zappi because it works well with solar power.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
I would go for Octopus with a cheap night rate at the first good opportunity.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
I’ve only used Pod Point free ones and they have been fine.

List your top 3 favourite public charging networks (in order of preference).
I’ve only used Pod Point, Instavolt and Ecotricity.

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
I’m insured with Admiral at the moment but mainly because I have a Multi-Car policy.

Estimate how much money you save per month owning and running an EV compared to a petrol/diesel car.
£150.
