Why did you choose the Hyundai Kona Electric?

This car was a revelation when it came out, the technology and specification were superior to everything else but Tesla.

Steering assist is amazing, the car pretty much drives itself.

Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?

Driving around town and over 300 miles range is easily possible, which is significantly more than the quoted range.

Hyundai Kona Electric Premium SE 64kWh 2018, Chris

The spec is amazing and the acceleration is very fast.

Hyundai Kona Premium SE 64kWh 2020, Jim

The sound system is beefy.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

myenergi zappi – ease of use and the features it offers. Integration with my solar array too.

Hyundai Kona Electric 2020, Rob

Pod Point – I have had a couple of issues but they were dealt with satisfactorily by their support team.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Charge from mains – British Gas (electric) cost about 16p per kWh

Hyundai Kona Electric 2021, William

Pod Point – price, ease of acquiring and fitting, great app.

Hyundai Kona Premium SE 64kWh 2020, Jim

Avro – I change to whichever is the cheapest tariff when the annual fixed tariff expires. This has been Avro for several years now as they have had the best tariff. I would recommend them.

What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?

Instavolt & BP Polar, they work when a lot of others don’t, fair pricing too.

Hyundai Kona Electric 2020, Rob

Gridserve and Instavolt are my faves.

Hyundai Kona Electric 2021, Kate

I mostly use BP Pulse if available, as I have a subscription. Otherwise whatever is available. None of them can be guaranteed to be available/unblocked (ICE’d)/working, so can’t recommend any to be honest. There is a new Gridserve electric forecourt in Braintree, Essex which has over 20 chargers and is fairly priced, this is the only site I would recommend.

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?

LV – been with them for 30 years. They really ‘get’ EVs.

Hyundai Kona Premium SE 64kWh 2020, Jim

LV – they were the cheapest when I bought the car. I have no problem recommending them but pricing depends on many factors, including postcode.

Aviva – I have two electric cars and a classic Morgan, Aviva’s MultiCar insurance policy is ideal for my needs. Simple to set-up and competitive pricing.
