2026 MINI Countryman Monochrome 64.6kWh Owner Review (Anthony)
I have owned my 2026 MINI Countryman for less than a year, covering between 500 and 1,000 miles so far. This is my very first electric car. The main reason we chose it was because the MINI was one of two electric vehicles we could afford on the Motability Scheme at the time.
Real-World Range & Charging Experience
-
Average Range: I am achieving an average of 200 miles from an 80% charge
-
Battery Performance: It is still far too early to tell if there has been any degradation or changes in performance
I do not charge the car at home. While I do use public charging networks, I cannot really say enough about them yet to offer specific recommendations. Overall, compared to my previous vehicle, the switch to electric is saving me money, but only marginally.
Driving Experience & Performance
Generally, I am very impressed with the MINI Countryman. I haven’t had any faults or issues that needed to be rectified by a dealer since picking it up. My absolute favourite technology on the car is the regenerative braking.
Interior, Infotainment & Practicality
We opted for the Monochrome specification. The designers did a great job of making the cabin feel like an original Mini, only larger—which is a nice detail that owners will appreciate. Since I access the car through the Motability Scheme, I do not personally insure it.
My main frustration with the car is simply the fact that it is electric, alongside an infotainment system that is far too busy for ‘dinosaurs’ like us. Our grandson loves the screens, although he has already had a near miss while driving due to paying the system too much attention.
My Final Thoughts on the MINI Countryman
While I am generally impressed with the car’s design and driving experience, I am still unsure what might be next on my EV radar if I were to trade the keys in tomorrow.
