2025 Geely EX5 Max 60.2kWh Owner Review (Shaun J.)

I have owned my 2025 Geely EX5 Max for just under a year and have covered between 5,000 and 10,000 miles so far. This is my very first electric vehicle. I chose the EX5 for its design, quality, price, driveability, and handling. The new battery technology, which allows for quick charging all the way to 100%, was also a key deciding factor for me.

Real-World Range & Charging Experience

  • Summer Range: 220 miles from an 80% charge

  • Winter Range: 195 miles from an 80% charge

  • Battery Performance: The battery is still performing exactly as it did when it was brand new.

I charge at home using an A2 Andersen unit, which I really like because having the cable attached makes it incredibly easy to set up. I use the EDF Go Electric tariff, and the car is absolutely saving me money. Charging at home for 250 miles costs me just £6.50, compared to £45 in my previous petrol SUV (energy prices are subject to change).

When using public networks, I highly recommend Tesla Superchargers; using their app and membership makes them the cheapest option. I also use InstaVolt, which is not bad, and I honestly haven’t experienced a bad public charging session yet.

Driving Experience & Performance

What I love most about the car is the colour, shape, size, and technology—it is just exceptionally easy to drive. I have had absolutely zero faults or issues with the vehicle since picking it up. My only frustration is with the indicators; you are not able to quieten or turn off the noise they make.

Interior, Infotainment & Practicality

I opted for the Max model, so the car came with all the optional upgrades, including a panoramic roof, an upgraded sound system, and a driver assistance pack.

  • Favourite Tech: The infotainment system and the HUD (Head-Up Display) are brilliant

  • Best-Kept Secret: The ability to heat or cool the cabin before driving away makes daily life just a little bit better

  • Insurance: I insured the car with One Call. Because the model was so new to the market, they were the only company offering a reasonable price, and I didn’t find the premium to be any dearer than my previous petrol SUV.

My Final Thoughts on the 2025 Geely EX5 Max

If I were to trade my keys in tomorrow, the Geely EX5 would still be at the top of my list. I would choose the exact same car again, though I might consider upgrading to the Ultra trim.
