CUPRA Born V3 2026, Tim

Tim's Cupra Born utilising a Tesla Supercharger network.

Tim drives a CUPRA Born V3 59kWh 2026

This is Tim’s first electric car, he’s owned the CUPRA Born less than a year and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 200+ miles range from an 80% charge. Tim has the standard V3 spec with upgraded Sennheiser Premium Audio.

Why did you choose the CUPRA Born?

  • Premium brand
  • looks great with high spec on V3 model
  • liked the interior design
  • ood size with ample boot and leg room in the rear
  • battery size has a charge time from 20-80% (less than 24mins), all what I required of my first EV
  • from first 5k miles, achieved an average of 4 miles per kWh
  • charge rate from 20%-80%, starts around 14kWh at 20/25%, around 70kWh at 80% SOC.

Positives

  • Looks very nice
  • quiet and very smooth to drive
  • nippy performance, 0-60 in 6 secs
  • exceptional & economical driving which costs up to 75% less than a petrol/diesel equivalent with very minimal long term servicing or maintenance costs.

Negatives

Nothing to note for downsides, as you get used to range and charging within weeks of ownership. Public charging has for become part of a nice weekly routine for me as I haven’t got a home charging unit installed yet.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Same, no noticeable difference after first 5k miles.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No issues.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Good infotainment
  • sat nav including charging route guidance
  • Cupra app useful
  • climate control very good and can be set and scheduled from the App as well as in the car, which is very useful in colder weather.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your CUPRA Born

It’s a very good EV for the price bracket and I’m glad I choose the Born for my first dip into EV driving, coming from a Toyota Corolla and Yaris (self-charging hybrids). I also previously drove an Audi A3 petrol.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

If you have an ‘open to all’ policy, then Tesla Supercharger network is the best in my limited experience. I’ve generally stuck to Tesla and IONITY. I have monthly memberships for both and an IONITY plug & charge voucher, which helps bring down my monthly charging costs as long as I use them both during any one month and more than twice.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a CUPRA Born V3

Even using public charging, my month’s electricity costs are significantly cheaper compared to current petrol/diesel prices.
I am easily saving 50-60% now I’m charging per month.
