Sarg drives a Tesla Model 3 57kWh 2022, standard specification with enhanced autopilot.

This is Sarg’s first EV and they’ve owned the Model 3 between 1-2 years. Sarg drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually and the current mileage of the car is between 25,000-30,000 miles. They achieve 180 miles range from an 80% charge.

Why did you choose this car?

For the technology, styling, warranty and range. It was also very cheap at the time.

Positives 

Range is great, speed is plenty for me and the technology is leaps and bounds ahead of any one else.

Negatives

Suspension is a complete shambles, it’s rough and noisy at the best of times. Half of it has been replaced by Tesla after I nagged them many times. The paint is soft so scratches very easily.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Excellent, 3.5% degradation.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Replaced front suspension arms, rear knuckle joints and front strut. There is still a hard knocking sound when going over bumps/uneven roads. I tried a Highland model and it was a much smoother and softer ride.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The system updates are brilliant and offer new features every couple of months. It’s an open system so you can use 3rd party apps to monitor your car. It was easy to setup with my electricity provider to get cheap overnight charging.

Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about your Model 3

People don’t know they’re being recorded if they come close. Any bumps or scratches are recorded on camera. Makes claims a breeze.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Possibly Tesla, but would look at Cupra too.

Home charging unit

iCS charger – A sparky recommended it and quite rightly so. Been reliable and the customer support is excellent.

Electricity supplier & tariff 

E.ON Next Drive Smart v5.2 – 3p overnight rate and during the day if there’s cheap electricity. Standing charge is a bit steep at 60p per day.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Only used a Tesla Supercharger once, but would recommend a Tesla for this reason only.
