Say goodbye to range anxiety: the inaugural Electric Road EV Owner Awards reveal which EVs drivers trust most with long journeys.
Following thousands of owner submissions, three standout electric vehicles emerged as clear leaders across their respective size classes for ‘Range’. From highly efficient compacts to aerodynamic streamliners, here is an in-depth look at the top three EVs that owners trust to crush long journeys, backed by the real-world experiences of the people who drive them.
The Small EV Winner: Kia EV3

Taking the top spot for the Small EV category is the heavily praised Kia EV3. An incredible 91.1% of its owners selected ‘Range’ as a standout feature, proving that you no longer need to buy a massive SUV to travel long distances without stopping.
The EV3 achieves this by offering a substantial battery pack relative to its size, paired with Kia’s highly efficient electric powertrain technology. It’s an EV that gives buyers big-car range figures in a nimble, urban-friendly package.
What the owners say
Owners were repeatedly blown away by the car’s ability to consistently deliver massive range, even in real-world conditions.
“First EV I have owned and absolutely love it. Would NEVER go back to an ICE car. Its range, even in winter, exceeds 340 miles (summer = 375 miles),” stated one thrilled convert.
Another owner highlighted how it fundamentally changes long road trips: “The comfort is so much better than my previous EV and the range is far more than my bladder. As a result, we now just do a top-up charge whenever we stop for a comfort break and then continue. It’s no hassle at all.”
The Medium-Sized Masterclass: Kia EV4

Making it a double victory for the South Korean manufacturer, the Kia EV4 dominated the Medium-sized EV category for range. A staggering 96.5% of owners highlighted the vehicle’s long-distance capabilities, representing the highest percentage of any EV!
The EV4 sits perfectly in the middle of Kia’s electric lineup, offering a sleeker, more aerodynamic profile than traditional SUVs, which significantly aids efficiency. It strikes an ideal balance between cabin space, comfort, and the ability to gobble up motorway miles.
What the owners say
The EV4’s real-world efficiency and ease of use were frequently highlighted in the owner feedback.
“It’s great, quiet, and responsive. Easy to drive and park. Good range even using the aircon in the summer heat,” noted one glowing review.
Another owner emphasized how it represented a major upgrade over earlier EV generations: “It is very good. Much longer range than my last car, 300+ miles.”
The Large EV Leader: Hyundai IONIQ 6

Proving that aerodynamics is the key to unlocking maximum electric range, the striking Hyundai IONIQ 6 took home the crown for the Large EV category. An impressive 90% of owners selected range as a core reason they love the vehicle, allowing it to beat out the massively popular Tesla Model Y.
The IONIQ 6’s ultra-low drag coefficient allows it to slice through the air, squeezing every possible mile out of its battery pack. Combined with Hyundai’s 800-volt charging architecture for lightning-fast top-ups, it is arguably the ultimate electric road trip vehicle.
What the owners say
Owners were thrilled by the vehicle’s dual ability to cruise efficiently and charge rapidly.
“Excellent looks. Fast/fun when needed. Very eco when cruising… Long range of 320 miles, 285 in winter. Easy top-up if I need a few extra miles,” explained one highly satisfied owner.
Another owner perfectly summarized its long-distance prowess: “Love the ability to charge at 250kw+. Range and comfort are also excellent. Bigger range than my last EV.”
The models above had the highest percentage of owners cite ‘Range’ as one their favourite features, within their respective size categories. Only models with a minimum of 20 unique submissions were considered for the Owner Awards. All images were sourced from the respective manufacturers’ media websites.
