‘Cor blimey’ shares his experience of public charging with his Volkswagen ID.3 Pro 58kWh 2021.
What do you think of the UK public charging network in general?
Too expensive.
What and where are your favourite UK public chargers?
Lancaster City Council-controlled chargers.
What’s been your best experience with a UK public charger?
Before the rise in electricity prices, I could charge my car in Williamson Park, Lancaster for less than my home charger on an Eco7 tariff.
What’s been your worst experience with a UK public charger?
GRIDSERVE – not warning that they would completely close their chargers at Warwick whilst I only had 15 miles of range left.
What’s got to change about public charging in the UK to get more people driving electric cars?
Home charging in the street – I know several friends who would like to buy but won’t because of this. I remember going to CES (Consumer Electronics Show) ten years ago and seeing a car being charged with no physical connection to a charge point under the road surface.
